Sibtsport is a multi-sport school aimed at teaching children between the ages of 3 and 12 the fundamental elements for becoming a well developed sportsperson. Our programme is staggered in two levels.
In the first level, 3 & 4+ year old children are taught the foundations of physical education and movement. This includes Manipulative Skills (Throwing, Catching, Kicking); Non-Manipulative Skills (Jumping, Rolling, Balancing, etc); Spacial Awareness & Locomotor Skills (Running, Hopping, etc).
At the second level, 5 – 14 years, throughout our structured programme, young children will learn a wide variety of skills, by learning 8 different sports, that will mould them, not only into a sportsperson, but a motivator, leader and teammate. They will also learn valuable skills in a variety of sports (namely: Football, Basketball, Handball, Hockey, Mini Tennis, Volleyball, Baseball and Tag Rugby) and develop the ability to psychologically prepare themselves for the many varying situations faced in both sport and life. As of this year we will be introducing Aerobics and Health Related Fitness, and kids will have sessions every week.
During the various team sport sessions, children are taught not only the basic skills of the sports, but as educationalists we also focus on character building, developing a sense of co-operation, how to lead people, how to handle adversity and Team Bonding. These are all key qualities that will benefit the players in adult life. At the end of the full course each child will be assessed and awarded a Certificate of Participation and Assessment Form.
The Educational Gymnastics course is structured progressively to promote aerobic and muscular endurance; muscle fitness; agility; body control and overall co-ordination. Through Educational Gymnastics we also aim to develop the child’s self-confidence, teach them how to use their body efficiently and safely. As with the other activities, at the end of the full Gymnastics course the child will be assessed and awarded a Certificate of Participation and an Assessment Form. Gymnastic sessions will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (1 session per week) and children will be grouped by skill level.
All these activities start in October and end in May.
